On the occasion of “de Warmste Week” van “Stubru”, Almeco & PCA have been organising a pancake sale and an Afterwork Christmas Market for several years now. Despite the good karma one would expect when organizing an event for the benefit of charity, the weather gods seriously failed us this year. This gave us the perfect opportunity to set up our first Indoor Afterwork Christmas market.
Protected from rain and wind, our visitors could once again enjoy delicious dishes and drinks at the various stands. The offer varied from soup and hutsepot to chili con carne and bratwurst.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the cover band June For President. They literally and figuratively blew the audience over with one hit after another. The band got off to a flying start with "My Sharona" by The Knack and surprised with a great medley of Dutch songs. After an hour and a half they went out with a bang: "Don't stop me now" by Queen. Deslectic DJ made sure that the whole evening was filled with hits for all generations. The children who accompanied their parents to our Christmas market had a great time between the stage and the bouncy castle.
This year we will dedicate all profits to the non-profit association “de Zonnebloemblaadjes”. For almost 50 years, they have ensured that children and young people with a disability can also enjoy a nice summer camp during their holidays and during the year of weekends away. The association consists of about 60 volunteers, a cooking team and a general management. We wish them good luck with this great initiative.
We would like to thank coverband June for President and Deslectic DJ for their flawless entertainment. Thanks to all the volunteers and staff for making it a great night. Thanks to the management for the moral and financial support. And thank you to everyone who came by that night.
It was another great edition and we are looking forward to next year.
